The bias of BBC Scotland and our campaign to expose it
We are ordinary people, tired of the distortions of ‘news’ reporting on BBC Scotland where ‘spin’ and opinion have long replaced fact.
This website acts as a gateway to some of the best articles on the topic of misreporting within BBC News Scotland. By using misrepresentation, omissions, errors of fact, failure to explain context, or fair comparisons – BBC News Scotland displays a consistent level of bias and a distinct lack of impartiality.
BBC Scotland is portraying a pessimistic and negative view of Scotland that does not chime with the reality of positivity and confidence in our country. The articles on this website contrast the actual facts with what the BBC has reported. Find out more about BBC bias and propaganda here.
Our campaign at Inform Scotland is about shedding light on the importance of journalistic integrity and impartiality from one of the world’s biggest broadcasters, who claims to operate by these standards, but whose actions show otherwise. Up until April 2017, BBC was the only broadcaster under law not to be regulated by OFCOM for bias – and it showed badly in BBC Scotland and still does.
We are just one of many websites who are highlighting BBC bias, which continues to have a negative impact on the Scottish independence movement. But the good news is that the Scottish people are becoming wise to the BBC’s biased reporting and are looking towards alternative news sources – we aim to help them on that journey.
Our Scottish NHS is the best in the UK, and by some measures the best in the world – but BBC Scotland suggests the opposite. Read articles on NHS Scotland ….
Police Scotland has the highest number of officers and the lowest level of crime ever – but BBC Scotland suggests our police are rent by crises and cut-backs like the forces in England and Wales. Read articles on Police Scotland ….
Our Education system is the best in Britain, with the fairest access to 3rd level studies – but BBC Scotland traduces our education system. Read articles on Scottish education ….
On InformScotland.com we have linked to many authors. This does not imply that they support our poster campaign – some do and some don’t. These authors correct the BBC on clear points of fact in the above, and many other areas. They highlight the ongoing pernicious bias of BBC Scotland rather than fairly reporting news and current affairs.
Professor John Robertson is supporting our campaign. We asked John to do media interviews for us. John says:
“They feed us lies about imaginary crises in NHS Scotland and hide evidence that it consistently out-performs NHS England. They hammer and exaggerate repeatedly reports of economic decline and hide the evidence of a genuinely promising future. They trumpet and repeat any perceived or imagined flaws in SNP politicians and hide those of the Unionist parties. BBC Scotland News shamelessly serves the interests of its London masters and treats the Scottish audience, which pays for it, with utter contempt.”
Author, GA Ponsonby is also supporting our campaign. He says:
“BBC Scotland is not a devolved institution. The BBC never evolved in line with Scotland and thus it remains firmly stuck in the past where London rules. Like most of Scotland’s media, it’s IN Scotland but not OF Scotland. It does not reflect the views of Scotland but instead lectures Scotland. The BBC is an institution that cannot change in order to meet the needs of Scots, but one that tries to force Scots to adapt to the needs of the British state. This is why BBC Scotland manipulates news. It isn’t informing the Scottish public, rather it is trying to influence us.”
We created InformScotland.com as a bridge for people who have little awareness of the existence of an alternative narrative to what they regularly hear on BBC Scotland or read in the so-called ‘Main Stream Media’. We want to help them cross that bridge and see for themselves what’s really going on.
We hope you will find your way to an alternative media where truth is king and where media distortion is exposed, and where people become wise to how they were being manipulated.
Have a look at Livestream snippets from our workshop at the Wingers social in Glasgow in March 2016, where we resolved to tackle the BBC’ s ongoing disrespect to the people of Scotland.
