Inform Scotland gears up for new BBC/ Ofcom complaints procedure
The linked document is the output of the consultation on the regulation of the BBC by Ofcom, which makes for interesting reading – for instance where ITV/ STV were arguing that the BBC should be regulated for accuracy or bias in the same manner as any other broadcasting organization.
As you will see in appendix 1, it was finally decided that complainants should have to go to the BBC first, and only after exhausting the BBC’s own complaints procedure, they would then be able to appeal to Ofcom. They describe this as their ‘BBC First policy’.
We have created a new resource button at the top of our website homepage to help you make your complaints which you can find here.
If any of you have expertise or knowledge of this new complaints process we welcome suggestions to improve our resource link above.
If you would like to share your complaints with us we will publish them in our complaints archive.
You can find the Ofcom complaints procedure here.
